MDK/ WWH Report

Newbury Park, CA. The 2009 AMA Monster Energy Supercross series again
headed East, this time to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Without a
doubt, it was the single most successful outing ever for the MDK/Warthog
Racing Academy in particular as well as for the professional racing
community. And this success was not based on results but instead a young
man with a lot of heart and the help of modern science.

MDK/Warthog Racing Academy rider #374 Cody Gilmore astounded everyone.
Over the past two years Cody has been fighting a rare and malignant form of
spinal cancer. Most expected to never see Cody ride again, much less prove
that he is indeed still among the World's Best in the sport of Supercross.

Cody proceeded to place the 27th fastest lap time in practice, a benchmark
from which he kept improving; he finished a strong 7th in front of Blake
Wharton in his heat. In the main, Cody's lack of track time caught up with
him, relegating him to a 19th place finish. Still, for all those that know
Cody, he won. He won our hearts and minds and he, for now, has beaten his
toughest competitor - CANCER. Look for #374 to surprise the hell out of you
the rest of the year. The kid is special. And special thanks to Jeffery
Tomlinson, Warthog Racing's Chief of Logistics, for funding Cody's ride this
year with the Warthog Racing Academy.

All of our other accomplishments in Atlanta pale in comparison to Cody's,
although they are worth noting anyway.

We are excited to announce the addition of Amateur sensations Tyler Wharton
and Justin Sipes to the Warthog Racing Sounder. With the support of all
involved, we expect great things from them.

All nine Warthog Racing Academy riders qualified for the night show,
including the backbone of the Warthog Nation, Mastercraft's Heath Voss.
Others making the cut included Eric Sorby, Tyler Wharton, Dennis Jonon,
Jacob Saylor, Ryan Smith, Spencer Dally, Cody Gillmore, and Logan Martin.

The heats weren't as good to Heath Voss as they have been most of the year;
he finished 10th in his heat and went on to finish 3rd in the LCQ.
As Agent 86 Maxwell Smart used to say "He missed it by that much".
Heath will be back next week to reclaim his god given position in the main
and protect his "Top Privateer" status

Eric was under the weather and had a bit of an off night as did Jonon,
Smith, Dally, and Martin. Look for all these boys to be in the main soon!!

On the upside, the aforementioned Gillmore as well as Jacob Saylor, and
Tyler Wharton stormed the Lites main, finishing 19th, 14th, and 11th,
respectively. Good showing boys.

This soliloquy would not be complete without mentioning the two riders who
graduated from the MDK/Warthog Racing Academy last week. Based on their
outstanding performance to date, Tyler Bowers and Vince Friese were hired by
MotoConcepts Racing, a member of the Warthog Nation. Both Tyler and Vince
easily qualified for their respective mains. Tyler ran as high as 10th
after passing both Kevin Windham and Timmy Ferry!! Good job boys and we
wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

This season would not be possible without our committed and actively engaged
sponsor/partner group. For 2009, we have teamed up with the following
entities: MDK Motorsports, MDK Speed, DeCal Works, Smooth Industries,
Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI), P-LoK, MotoConcepts, Transworld
Motocross, LocoMX.com, Vanquish MX, DT1 Air Filters, MXResultz.com, Devol
Engineering, Liquid Performance, LongShot Racing, CP Pistons, VP Fuel,
Dunlop, The Plumber Inc., MB2 Raceway, Edgile Consulting, MX Sports, Vortex,
MotionPro, Dana K Business Parks, The Whitaker Wellness Institute, Atlantic
Promotions, NXTAgency, Relentless Media, MotoTees, RacerX Illustrated, Dirt
Rider Magazine, Motocross Action Magazine, MartialMoto, Honolulu Hills
Raceway, L&M Racing, and Fire and Police MX.

With this fine group, anything is possible. And special thanks to Feld
Motor Sports. Because of their full support, dozens of privateers get the
opportunity to live their dreams.

Take care and we'll see you at the races!!

Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit Kawasaki Continues Domination with Top Podium Spot in Atlanta

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad returned to the Eastern Region for round two of the East series inside Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, and the PC team was immediately fast, with riders Christophe Pourcel and Austin Stroupe putting down the two fastest qualifying times before going out and winning both Heat races.

In the main event, Stroupe took the holeshot and was followed by his teammate Pourcel for most of the race. Stroupe pulled away from Pourcel early, but then stalled his bike on the 10th lap, handing the lead to Pourcel. Pourcel went on to take his second victory of the year and extend his lead in the Lites East points standings.

“I’m happy, for sure. I can’t say much more than that,” Pourcel said. “He [teammate Stroupe] was very fast at the beginning of the race, and I was pretty surprised about that. He did the triple on the track that was pretty dangerous, and I didn’t want to do it, so he pulled away there, and he was riding really good. Then, after seven or eight laps, he caught a lapper, and I found my speed in the whoops and started to catch him. Then, he made the mistake for me, so it was easy after that.”

Stroupe got back going again in eighth place and fought his way back up to seventh at the finish.

“I did what I wanted to do,” Stroupe said. “I got the holeshot and checked out, but I just made a little mistake – I braked too early and just stalled it. That put me behind. The race was over. That was lap 10, and it took me a while to get ready. It was over and there wasn’t much I could do. They were all pretty much gone, so it was over by that point.”

If he wants to be in the championship hunt again, Stroupe has some work cut out for him.

“I’m here to win every race,” Stroupe said. “These next six races, I want to win, so I’ll be doing some work to get back in the hunt.”

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team heads to Indianapolis’ brand-new Lucas Oil Stadium this weekend for round three of the Lites East.

“What a great way to introduce Terminal Velocity to the South!”, exclaimed Terminal Velocity Processing’s Marketing Director, Joe Parsons. “Atlanta was a great weekend for us, not only on the racetrack, but with the local businesses we spoke with in regards to maximizing their merchant services accounts .”

#4!!

FONTANA, Calif. – Ricky Carmichael and the No. 33 Monster Energy KHI All-Stars team finished the San Bernardino County 200 at Auto Club Speedway in eighth place, a career-best finish for Carmichael in only his second career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Kyle Busch won the race, followed by Todd Bodine and Chad McCumbee in third. Carmichael was the top-finishing rookie of the race.

Ricky Carmichael Post-Race Quote: “I learned SO much today. The boss (Kevin Harvick, team co-owner) had a goal for me today – and that was to finish in the top-15, so we beat the bosses’ goal! I wanted to exceed his expectations. I’m pleased to have bettered his goal because we really wanted to learn, turn laps and finish the race. I kept my nose clean all day and I feel like if we could start this race over again right now, I could do much better with everything I learned!

“This place (Auto Club Speedway) is so fast, it took me all of practice, qualifying, and the first 50 laps of the race to get used to the speed. Once I got myself acclimated, then I could start to worry about how the truck was handling. Luckily, the team gave me a great truck and we were the fastest truck on the track in the late stages of the race. I cost us some track position when I thought the right front (tire) was going soft, so we made an extra pit stop (on lap 47) and lost a lot of positions. But, we were able to pass a lot of trucks the rest of the way to get back into the top 10.”

Race Highlights: Carmichael, the most successful motocross racer in American history, started from the third position and ran among the top eight positions for the first half of the event, running as high as fifth place until beginning to struggle with what felt like a soft right-front tire. The team made an extra pit stop on lap 47 to take four tires, which placed Carmichael 19th on the restart. It took him four laps to climb to 14th, and then he spent the final 40 laps gradually passing trucks on his way to an eighth-place finish.

In two career Truck Series starts, this marks his first top-five start and first top-10 finish. Carmichael is tied for 14th place in the drivers point standings.

Carmichael will race the Monster Energy/ KHI All-Star Silverado again Saturday, April 25 at Kansas Speedway.

DID YOU KNOW: Ricky Carmichael will be a color commentator for SPEED-TV’s live coverage of the AMA Supercross race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Saturday night March 7. Carmichael, a 15-time AMA Champion, designed the Supercross course for the Daytona event.

San Diego

Feb 16 2009 10:01AM

SAN DIEGO – Before the 2009 Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, moves east, the world’s best riders brought the action to a close in the state of California as San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., extended his winning streak to six races at Qualcomm Stadium. In the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class, Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., reclaimed the Western Regional championship points lead with his third win of the season.

Over the past six races, Stewart completely erased the 23-point deficit he faced after the season-opening race in Anaheim, Calif., and now sits in a tie with rival and reigning champion Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla. The Rockstar/Makita Suzuki rider has been the picture of consistency this season, finishing on the podium in every race, capped off by a runner-up finish tonight to give him six straight second-place efforts behind Stewart.

Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Mike Alessi, of Victorville, Calif., grabbed the holeshot in the 20-lap main event with Stewart and Reed in tow. The class’ top two riders quickly made their move around Alessi and gapped the field. Reed kept pace with Stewart for a couple laps, but the Yamaha rider slowly pulled away, leading flag-to-flag.

“The track was definitely tough,” explained Stewart. “I just had some good luck. The track was slick, but, man, this San Manuel Yamaha was awesome. To come back where we were at, 23-points back, it’s just amazing. (San Diego) is special to me - it gave me my first victory in 2002 so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the city.”

Reed held of the late charges of both Honda Red Bull Racing’s Andrew Short, of Smithville, Texas, and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto, of Poulsbo, Wash., to capture second while Short edged Villopoto at the line for third.

“I got great starts and I was there,” stated Reed. “I just wasn’t fast enough. James rode awesome and I want to thank the team for being patient with me all day. I’m happy to be second and once again San Diego was good to me. I want to thank my team and all my sponsors. We’re just keeping it consistent.”

Dungey led the field into the first corner, but was edged out for the holeshot by Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ryan Morais, of Murrieta, Calif., while GEICO Powersports Honda’s Dan Reardon, of Menifee, Calif., followed in third. Points leader Jake Weimer, of Rupert, Idaho, garnered a mid-pack start aboard his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki but began to work his way through the field. Dungey led every lap of the main event and carries a 2-point lead into a seven-week break for the Western Regional championship. Morais earned a runner-up finish while Weimer worked his way up to third.

“I’m really pumped,” said Dungey. “I think I really rode an awesome race form start to finish. Sometimes when you’re given that kind of opportunity you need to take advantage of it and I think I did that tonight. I just want to thank my team, Rockstar/Makita Suzuki for everything.”

Terminal Velocity A3 report

Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit Kawasaki Goes 1-2 and Weimer Takes Series Point Lead!

For the second time this season – both times at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California – the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad came away with a dominating 1-2 finish at a Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Championship event.

Team rider Jake Weimer won the series opener at Anaheim, and then followed that up with another win in San Francisco the week before last weekend’s third Anaheim race. At Anaheim III, Weimer started near the front, passed for the lead at about the halfway point, and then fought off his teammate Ryan Morais for the win – his second in a row, and third of the year.

“It was tough,” Weimer said. “The track was really slick and got really rough and it was really rutty, so it was tough. You could get in a rhythm, but it was really easy to make mistakes, so it was really tough and a really hard race tonight, so I’m super-happy to be able to come away with the W, and the points lead.”

His teammate Morais came from behind to grab second just past the mid point of the race, and on the last lap, he actually passed Weimer for the lead momentarily a couple of turns before the finish when Weimer got pushed out of the racing line by a lapper who was attempting to move out of his way, and Morais nearly snagged his first win.

“The main event was awesome,” Morais said. “I started out front, and I rode like I don’t know what those first few laps. I was kind of jumping around, left, right, facing stuff... I don’t know what I was doing, but I was able to regroup and put the charge on and catch back up to my teammate on that last lap. That white flag came out of nowhere – I didn’t know where I was at in the race. I thought we had at least a couple more laps to go, and then the white flag came out, and I was freaking out, so I just put the charge on that last lap, and he wasn’t able to jump the double that last lap with the lapper, and I just thought to myself, ‘I’m going for it. I want to win, and if I end up going down, I know we have a big enough cushion that I can probably get up and still get second, so I’m going to take this chance and see what happens.’ It was so close to working out! But there’s no one else I’d rather see win out there than Jake. Our Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki team just works so hard during the week, and they put so much into us, and I think they kind of went out on a limb with me and Jake, and people were kind of doubting us. I just love it when we go out there and prove everybody wrong.”

Weimer now leads the Lites West points standings with three rounds remaining, while Morais still sits third in the points. The Lites West returns to action at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, this Saturday, February 14, after which the West region will go on hiatus as the East picks back up.

“What a night!”, exclaimed Terminal Velocity’s Joe Parsons. “As if sweeping the top two podium spots wasn’t enough, Jake now leads the West Coast Lites Points standings and is proving he deserves to be at the top! Everyone at Terminal Velocity Processing is excited beyond words can describe”.”
